Commercial document services

If you have been unable to obtain certain journal articles through the Walden databases, Document Delivery Service or local libraries an easy and efficient service to consider is ordering from a commercial document service. Here are some of the reputable companies that provide document services.

Fees can range from $1.00 to over $100.00 (U.S. dollars). We suggest you compare prices among the services.

  • Infotrieve is a research and document company that can provide full-text articles from over 150,000 journals. You can submit requests for citations you already have or use one of their search services such as ArticleFinder or eContent.

  • ScienceDirect allows you to search or browse over 8 million research articles and over 4,000 e-books in the social sciences, health, life sciences, engineering and more. ScienceDirect offers pay-as-you go access to PDF full-text articles.

  • The Library of Congress Photoduplication Service will provide copies of almost any item in the library collections. Please read their ordering information before submitting a request. You can access and search the Library of Congress catalog online.

  • British Library Direct allows you to search the last 5 years of over 20,000 journals All articles are available for electronic delivery. The British Library also offers other document and research services.

  • The United States National Library of Medicine offers access to biomedical research articles via its Loansome Doc service. You can search for NLM articles via PubMed and then request items from a participating Loansome Doc library. The Loansome Doc network operates across the U.S. and internationally.

  • Some universities offer photocopy services to the general public. One example is the UCLA Libraries Document Delivery Service. Some UCLA libraries will make photocopies of book chapters, journal articles, and other materials for non-UCLA users. See their brochure for fees and delivery information. Search UCLA's online catalog to find available materials.

Another example of a university-based public research service is the University of Minnesota's Biomedical Information Service. BIS offers both document delivery and research services.

Please feel free to contact the library for more information or help with commercial document sources.
